Merry day after Christmas, time for deep contemplation

Daughter thanking mom for Christmas gift

The picture above is my daughter thanking me for a wonderful Christmas.

Today is what the Canadians call "Boxing Day". People run out to stores, and try to get the best bargains they can get, much like Black Friday after Thanksgiving. Blech! This isn't what I have in mind when I think of Christmas.

My daughter learns to read :)

My daughter is an "emergent" reader. She just loves her books. Here is her reading one of them.

Amusement in small packages

Last night we took my daughter to Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park. It is a small segment ajacent to Coney Island‘s more famous Astroland. But, it seems to have more rides oriented to small children so I thought this would be a better way to go.

Let my kids swear?

That’s the title of this February Parenting article.

One can argue, as the article does, that it is part of the venacular, a part of modern life. I can’t say that is not true, to an extent.

There is a time and a context for swear words. But those time should be rare, and the words themselves, should punctuate the speech. They should not be a substitute for lack of creativing, or even worse, filler words.
