Merry day after Christmas, time for deep contemplation

Daughter thanking mom for Christmas gift

The picture above is my daughter thanking me for a wonderful Christmas.

Today is what the Canadians call "Boxing Day". People run out to stores, and try to get the best bargains they can get, much like Black Friday after Thanksgiving. Blech! This isn't what I have in mind when I think of Christmas.

My daughter's 'Princess' hair and my own hair realizations

This morning my daughter decided to wear her long hair loose and flowing. She has gorgeous long hair that reaches mid-back. As with most children, her hair is difficult to manage. It is fraught with tangles and she complains when her hair is combed. Nevertheless, the quality of her hair is ten times better than what I had at her age. Her hair has body where mine didn't.

Drupal 7 is harder than I thought

Studying by computer

This blog has been in existance for a long time using various technologies over the years.

At first it was a simple html site, hosted on my Road Runner account. I was first learning HTML then, and css was largely not supported by most browsers. I was just learning HTML back then. It took me forever to learn it too. I played around with simple javascripts to add extra functionality. It was good enough to land my first job on the web.

Roseba.com in transition

If you haven't noticed, this site looks very different.  I am running it on a new platform, Drupal 7.  I have very little experience in Drupal, especially version 7.

Over the next few months, you are going to see a lot of changes.  Things may not work right, they may not look right.  Essentially, this website is going to be my playground where I can learn the ins and outs of Drupal.  It's simply the only way I'm going to get this platform under my belt in the way I desire to do so.

To my loyal followers

You may be here looking for content about relationships.  I have had a strong following with this content. The themes discussed resonated for a many people.  This website was becoming a terrific resources for complete information on the topic.

It was with great pain that I decided to remove that information from my personal website.  There are many reasons both personal and professional.

Who am I?

My name is Robin and I was born and bred in NYC. I currently reside in Queens with my daughter.

I have explored many things, but have to say that motherhood, is by far, the most rewarding experience I have ever achieved. Watching a little human being grow and flourish, and knowing you had something to do with it, is amazing.

I can't say there aren't many things that I don't want to try in the future, but right now, I'm enjoying my role as mother, mentor, and protector.

Couch to 5K — I’m running again

I started out enthusiastically running in sub-zero temperatures. I was making tangible progress in a short time. Unfortunately, it didn’t take very long to become sidelined with an injury. I got shin-splints. No matter what I did, they did not heal. Walking down the street became very painful for me, especially when there was any sort of incline.

Dreams do come true: Impressions of Disney World from a single mom

In early May, my daughter and I took a trip to Disney World. It was my first trip to Disney, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. It just seemed like the perfect way to get some quality alone time with my daughter, and celebrate her sixth birthday.

My daughter turns six!

Today my daughter turns 6. I thought it would be appropriate to repost the miracle story of her birth. All children are miracles.

Birth story

I hope I got the times right because the three days leading up to my birth, Fri-Sun are a huge fog to me.

My TD Bank 5 Boro Ride

Back in February, I got in into my head that I wanted to ride in the TD Bank 5 Boro Bike Tour. I’m a beginner rider, and I wanted to try something new and fun. But also something difficult, that I had to train for, and could be proud of. Besides, it’s not every day that a greater part of the 5 boroughs is closed to car traffic. And I was thrilled to be part of a such a momentous annual event.
